Creative Careers Workshop at Stratford-upon-Avon College

Tuesday 17th March

On 17th March, we had the pleasure of spending the day with 150 creative students at Stratford-upon-Avon College — an inspiring mix of Year 1 and Year 2 learners studying Hair & Make-Up, Photography, Graphics, Technical Theatre, and Musical Theatre.

Our goal was simple: To open up the world of creative careers, build essential skills, and spark confidence in the next generation of creative professionals.

A Standout Moment

One of the most memorable parts of the day was watching students from completely different disciplines come together to tackle a real-world business challenge. Seeing a hair & make-up student brainstorming with a photographer, or a tech theatre student collaborating with a graphic designer, brought the creative sector to life in the most authentic way.

Their ideas were bold, imaginative, and rooted in genuine teamwork — exactly what the industry thrives on.

What Students Loved Most

The energy in the room lifted the moment the group activity began. Students told us they loved:

  • Working with peers from other creative subjects

  • Sharing ideas and building something together

  • Bringing their creativity into a practical, industry-style task

The buzz was unmistakable.

Impact We Saw Throughout the Day

Across both workshops, we saw:

  • Creativity flourish through concept development

  • Teamwork strengthen as mixed groups collaborated

  • Confidence grow as students presented their ideas

  • Engagement rise through hands-on, activity-led learning

Our sessions introduced students to:

  • Careers across the Creative Industries

  • Skills Builder Essential Skills

  • Freelancing pathways

  • Growing creative sectors in the UK

We’re also gathering direct student feedback through a Google form to continue shaping meaningful, relevant workshops.
